Our Mission
Creating an environment where employees can perform at their best is not only a corporate responsibility but also a driver of business success. Creating such an environment often requires a cultural shift—a transformation in the mindset and habits of leaders and employees.
Achieving such a transformation is no easy task. And this struggle has been made more difficult than ever by an increasingly globalized and diverse workforce. This includes companies whose employees work overseas or collaborate with overseas colleagues, or who have seen an influx of young, female, foreign, etc. employees. The question of how to optimize company culture in a way that promotes inclusion—that is, how to leverage individual strengths from a diverse workforce—is something with which many companies understandably struggle.
MindShift Japan is here to help. We offer four training programs, each of which touches on crucial management challenges in the effort to optimize transformation and inclusion: Cross-cultural Understanding & Adaptation, Growth Mindset, Multiplier Leadership and Wellbeing. These programs will provide insights and strategies which managers and HR can use to support the development of their diverse workforce—drawing content from research, and our trainer’s decades of real-world experience in Japan.

Cross-Cultural Understanding and Adaptation
Increasing globalization means it is more necessary than even to understand how to work smoothly with diverse colleagues. That is, how to collaborate, communicate, and connect with people who have different backgrounds and cultures. For example, how to succeed when working with foreigners, women, or mid-career hires. Or, how to adapt when working abroad.
MindShift’s Cross-Cultural Understanding and Adaptation training equips managers and employees with practical tools to thrive in diverse settings. This engaging program dives into managerial approaches for leading diverse teams smoothly and effectively, and easy-to-use strategies that will help employees navigate cultural differences. Finally, this training can be customized to cultures of most relevance (for example, “Japan-India” for collaboration with an Indian company).
What You Will Learn:
- Frameworks to quantitatively understand the characteristics of other cultures
- How to recognize when unconscious Japanese thinking and behavioral patterns affect work style
- Key qualities and behaviors managers need to lead (e.g., for decision-making, trust-building, task delegation)
- Actionable tips for adapting communication style (e.g., how to convey intentions clearly)
- For those working abroad, strategies to succeed, connect, and stay authentic
What you can expect to take away:
Participants gain a deeper understanding of communication gaps, differences in thinking and work approaches, and manager-subordinate dynamics across cultures. This enhances adaptability, reduces misunderstandings and conflicts, and promotes smoother communication and task execution.
Target Audience:
Employees preparing for or on overseas assignments, managers with foreign subordinates, employees working with foreign colleagues, global sales teams, or domestic employees working with foreign nationals
- Understanding the five core leadership principals for unlocking employee potential:

- and more
- Practical methods to break free from nine unconscious habits that inhibit growth and potential, such as micromanagement and perfectionism
What You Can Expect to Take Away: See a significant increase in employee output without increasing workload. Start utilizing untapped talent already present in your organization. Watch as your teams start taking more initiative and driving projects independently. Find it easier to generate productive discussion and innovative ideas. Notice your employees reporting more job satisfaction because they feel valued and stimulated by work challenges.
Target Audience: New managers, managers struggling with team development, HR teams who have hit their headcount limit but need more work done
“Growth Mindset” describes a way of viewing challenges and one’s own abilities. Decades of research has shown that when employees have a Growth Mindset, they grow and learn faster. This allows organizations to better utilize the unique talents of each employee, and to maximize employee adaptation to cultural change initiatives. Far from an abstract concept – researchers have mapped out concrete, actionable strategies that anyone can use to develop a Growth Mindset. Mindshift’s Growth Mindset training teaches these practical methods. The training can also be customized to address issues specific to female employees.
What You Will Learn:
- Five methods to overcome mental barriers (e.g., fear of failure, worry about others’ perception)
- Techniques to build inner confidence
- Effective ways to receive and utilize feedback
- Understanding Comfort Zones vs Learning Zones
- Growth Mindset for Women:
- Common challenges (e.g., imposter syndrome, likability)
- Long-term career development and life stages
- Female-specific approaches to Learning Zones
What You Can Expect to Take Away: Participants will learn how to adopt a Growth Mindset, and managers will learn how to cultivate it in their supervisees. Participants will have a more proactive attitude towards self-improvement and overcoming challenges, and feel better able to address internal struggles. They will notice that they learn and improve faster, and adapt to change more easily.
Target Audience: Managers, management candidates, and employees who are young and/or female
